Christmas in Guantanamo Bay

Well it seems that George Bush and his cronies are not the savages that the press has made them out to be. Oh his administration will go down as being the worst one in modern history, but do not say that they are heartless and don't know how to have a good time.

Recent information has just come in via the Associated Press website that talks about Christmas festivities that are happening at Guantanamo Bay Cuba. You have likely heard about Guantanamo Bay before. It's the place where George is holding all enemy combatants - like 15 year old Omar Khadr for the protection of the free world.

At Guantanamo Bay, the press has screamed that people there are being held illegally, and contrary to rules set out by the Geneva convention. Well the cries have not fallen on deaf ears. This years festive celebrations are designed to make everyone feel good about Guantanamo Bay again. The activities are being overseen by the VP - Dick Cheney and he has pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone at Guantanamo Bay gets involved in the festivities.

Thanks to Dick , there is no more water boarding for the duration of the festivities. Now people will be immersed in vats of eggnog. Reporters have stated that the sound of carolers in the camp drowns out the sound of those being dunked in the festive nog.

Government red tape and bureaucracy has even been kept to a minimum for this Christmas festival. People at Guantanamo Bay can now put up Christmas Decorations. It seems that even the prisoners are getting caught up in the excitement as this picture clearly demonstrates.

The Staff and residents of Guantanamo Bay want to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

Makes me think joining the Taliban would not be so bad unless you weren't captured alive. Spending time in snow covered mountains eating gruel all winter ain't nearly as much fun as taking a dunk in eggnog with Santa.

Another down side to being a member of the Taliban - your cave in the snow covered mountains cannot get cable TV or high speed internet - Trying to organize a jihad on dial up? Shudder....

The hooded "detainee" as Christmas tree is inspired - sick, but inspired

Dan - the idea of the decorated detainee did indeed come to me in a moment of clarity - yeah it's disturbing but hopefully it proves a point

Great post. I for one thought the "tree" should have had a hood on and nothing else.

Very festive Dave, as always...makes me want to stand outside your house and sing Christmas carols off key as only I can...see you in 30 minutes...you supply the eggnog :o)

Ettarose - the tree with just a hood ,is the decorating style seen in Abu Ghraib. Gitmo is much more family friendly and festive.

Melissa - if you are coming over singing carols badly, I will break out the Acme Dunking board and allow you to experience the whole Guantanamo experience. See you soon...

Golly, I'm so touched by this government's generosity and Christmas spirit, I was almost moved to tears. Almost.

and what did they do for ramadan last month? American heathens....no better than the far right Muslims they contest...shame on them all. Freedom indeed.

I know a few people who could use a dunk in that tank; sadly some are relatives. I did hear that Dick was planning to add rum on Christmas as an incentive to see if the prisoners would simply jump in...Oh, this time of year brings on the cheer.

And people say W. never did anything nice for terrorists. I just hope there's an adequate amount of rum in that eggnog.

Seems that it's a pretty consistent result - people out there are grateful for the holiday spirit that their leader is exhibiting to those less fortunate. Of course these same people now live in their car because they lost their home in the credit crunch - but cheers to George W

HIP HIP.....

Well Dave, being from down south, I can't quite comment on the obvious political implications of said post that might result in my being tagged by HS then having loud knocks on the door at night.

I'm just glad the residents there at GB can finally relax and drink (spiked) egg nog and celebrate peace on earth, goodwill towards men.

Too bad Omar is too young (by law) to drink.

{sigh}
