There seem to be a rash of native protests here in Ontario Canada. Caledonia and Deseronto come to mind immediately. At the heart of the protest there is always a unhappy Native who is fighting for the land that his great, great, great grandfather's second cousin got swindled out of by the nasty old white man....My question is this - If your great great great grandfather's second cousin was offered a business proposal and agreed to it - how is he being swindled? It was an agreed arrangement. I'm not saying what was offered by the "white man" was for full value - but you would have had a choice to accept or deny the arrangement. The white man here plays the part of the used car salesman, and the native the part of the customer looking for a car.
If you accepted the arrangement then, and now through the glory of hindsight and 400 years later, see that the land is more valuable then the original purchase price of a couple of muskets and hunting knives , please explain to me why you can go back to the bargaining table and ask for more??? Where will it end? There will always be arrangements where one party years later will feel ripped off - does that give them the right to go back to the table and re - open the bargaining session?
And why are the protesters allowed to barricade roads, burn tires and generally act like hooligans? If a "white person" tried that, they would be pepper sprayed, tasered and hog tied before you could even call the local television station. Police act with kid gloves around native protests because they do not want a public backlash - but if we take a step backwards and do not consider the color of the people's skin or their heritage - why are the protesters allowed to act in such a radical fashion? That's right there is no reason - the Police for there part should act fair and rationally as well, regardless of the ethnicity of the parties involved. If the Native protesters can act and behave with no repercussions is it not a case of the inmates running the asylum?????

Home Invasion Etiquette
Seems the good folks in California want to pass a law to outlaw spanking your child. Now I'm not here to get into an in depth debate on the subject, but I want to use this as a way to illustrate some points.
I'll start with a question ...Does anyone have any common sense anymore? All these new laws and regulations seem to try to define the situations where in previous generations we relied on COMMON SENSE. Now sorry to say - Common Sense is so sorely lacking and people are ill equipped to apply it, that they look for big brother to legislate their troubles away.
Soon we wont have to think - it will all be laid out in front of us with a series of scenarios and actions deemed acceptable by big brother.
Scenario 1: Gun wielding man breaks into your house to rape your wife and steal the silverware.
Option 1:
In the past it would have been perfectly acceptable to hit the intruder in the head with a Louisville Slugger and watch him run from your house leaving a trail of blood and broken teeth behind him - I mean he was breaking into your house with ill intent what did he expect?
Option 2:
Glad you asked what he expected...Let me explain the proper etiquette in this situation as laid out by subsection 2 ,paragraph 3 , of article 46b
If the masked man wants to rape your wife - all attempts should be made to put him at ease - we don't want to injure his delicate psyche at this vulnerable moment for him . Lower the lights , some mood music, and please no comments or giggles about his diminutive penis - he has feelings too you know. Please ensure that your HIV testing is accurate and updated so he can ensure that he wont be infected.
Your silverware should be packed in a container that he can carry without causing undue stress to any muscles or joints . Tell him to lift with his legs to avoid getting a work related injury or better yet carry the container to the getaway car for him. Please ensure that all children's toys such as bicycles, roller blades etc are removed from his exit path. Spraining or twisting an ankle could put undue financial stress on his ability to "earn" a living
Which is the correct response?
If you picked the Louisville Slugger option - all I can say is Thank God there are still some people with Common Sense out there - those lemmings out there who choose option 2 should remember to give the house invader all your relevant contact information so his lawyer can sue the right people if the need arises.

I'm on Humor Blogs.com and they give out lollipops.
Still no Facebook Account
Seems like I maybe one of the few people on this planet who has not subscribed to the whole Facebook craze.
I've talked to people who love Facebook, and I have looked at people's profiles and seen what Facebook offers as a "service" (?) and I'm sorry I just can't see the appeal.
I'm thinking that there is a reason I am not talking to someone from my fourth grade art class anymore. I do communicate with people - people I choose to communicate with, and people I have some desire to communicate with.
This communication is done through email....say it with me now...email. Wonderful invention - with email there is no need to sift through pictures of a canoe trip to Ogo Pogo for people you have not seen in 20 years , or deal with a "friend request" from someone who may have been in that bicycle rodeo with you back in 3rd grade.
I guess a good rule of thumb is "If I have not talked to you for 5 years, and I have not tried to initiate contact...guess what ..I dont want to talk to you!" Deal with it......
